dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Major hemorrhage following pancreaticoduodenectomy occurs in approximately 3–7.6% of cases. Pseudoanerysm of gastroduodenal artery is a non frequent cause of bleeding. The purpose of this paper is to report a 65 years old women with pancreatic adenocarcinoma who underwent pancreatoduodenectomy and developed upper gastrointestinal bleeding ten days after surgery. Studies with abdominal angiography diagnosed a pseudoaneurysm of the stump of the gastroduodenal artery requiring reintervention and transfusion support. Methods: A case report of pseudoanerysm of the gastroduodenal artery stump. Results: A 65 years old female patient developed bleeding after pancreaticoduodenectomy. CT and angiography studies were done. Pseudoanerysm was diagnosed. Patients underwent for a pseudoaneurysm removal and gastroduodenal ligation. Patient course was uneventful and discharge satisfactory. Conclusions: Gastroduodenal stump pseudoanerysm is a rare complication after pancreaticoduodenectomy. Close surveillance after surgery is necessary for early diagnosis and treatment. | en |
